Get to Kiama by car, train or plane
Kiama is 134 km from the Sydney CBD, about 1 hour 45 minutes by car. Visit NSW suggests the Grand Pacific Drive for the coastal version of the trip. Check-in opens at 3pm and it's self check-in, so you can leave after work on Friday, arrive in the evening, cook dinner and sleep in on Saturday.
Each apartment has secure garage parking for two cars, so two couples can drive down separately without hunting for a park.
No car? The train from Sydney takes just over two hours along the coast. Kiama station is about a 27-minute walk (2.2 km) from the apartments, so plan on a short taxi ride with luggage. Pick your weekend around the markets, whales and swell
A few dates and conditions shape a Kiama weekend, so check them before you book.
- Kiama Seaside Market: held on the third Sunday of each month at Black Beach Reserve, with more than 100 stalls and a 9am start. Book that weekend and you can browse before your 10am check-out, or stay Sunday night and take your time. See our Kiama markets guide.

- The swell: Destination Kiama says the Kiama Blowhole performs in a south-east swell, while the Little Blowhole works in a north-east swell. The Little Blowhole is about a 20-minute walk from the apartments.

Add a rainforest morning or a winery lunch
The coast fills Saturday easily. For a change of scene, head inland or south for a few hours. These three are all a short drive from Surfleet Place, and each has its own guide: Minnamurra Rainforest, Saddleback Mountain and wineries near Kiama.

The cellar door opens 10:30am to 5pm and is closed Mondays. Restaurant lunch runs Wednesday to Sunday, 11:30am to 5pm, with dinner on Saturday from 6pm. Plan a designated driver for tastings.
Minnamurra Rainforest
Budderoo National Park
The Lyrebird Loop is a 1.6 km walk of 30 minutes to an hour, and you can add the Minnamurra Falls walk for about another hour. Vehicle entry is $12 a day. Check NPWS for hours and alerts before you go.
Saddleback Mountain Lookout
Saddleback Mountain, Kiama
About a 10-minute drive south-west of Kiama, with views along the coast. An easy detour on Saturday or Sunday.
Slow the weekend down with a wellness session
A Kiama wellness weekend can be as simple as a morning walk to Easts Beach, 15 minutes from your door, then a float or sauna in town. Book sessions ahead, especially on Saturdays.
