A winery lunch is the easiest plan for a group of adults, because it takes one booking and nobody has to cook. Crooked River Estate at 11 Willowvale Road, Gerringong, is the closest winery to Kiama, about 10 minutes' drive south of the apartments.

The estate takes group enquiries for more than 10 people through a form on its group bookings page, and a team member calls you back to confirm. Groups of 11 or more adults order from its set Group Feed Me menu, which it lists at $89 or $160 per person. The restaurant serves lunch Wednesday to Sunday from 11.30am, and the cellar door is closed on Mondays. Opening hours shift with daylight saving, so check before you book.

Book a driver or split the group across cars with nominated drivers. For more cellar doors near Berry and Gerringong, read our guide to the wineries near Kiama.

Walk a section of the Kiama Coast Walk together

The Kiama Coast Walk is free, needs no booking and suits a group that wants to talk as much as walk. Destination Kiama splits its 20 km into three sections, so you can pick one that matches the slowest walker in the group.

SectionRouteDistance and timeGrade
NorthMinnamurra River to Kiama Blowhole8.5 km, 3 hoursMedium
MidKiama Blowhole to Loves Bay6 km, 1.5 hoursMedium to hard
SouthLoves Bay to Werri Beach, Gerringong6 km, 2 hoursMedium to hard

From the apartments, Loves Bay (the start of the South section) is about a 30-minute walk (2.2 km), and the Blowhole is about 35 minutes (2.9 km). A group can walk the South section to Gerringong and finish with lunch at the Gerringong Bowlo, whose Walk + Eat + Ride deal includes a lift back to Kiama when you spend $20 or more. Ring the club to book, and tell them how many are coming.

After heavy rain, Werri Lagoon near the end of the South section can be open to the sea. Destination Kiama asks walkers to check with the Kiama Visitor Information Centre on 1300 654 262 first. Our Kiama Coast Walk guide has the full route, maps and train times.

Take a surf lesson on Seven Mile Beach at Gerroa

A surf lesson gives a group a shared story for dinner, and the gentle waves at the northern end of Seven Mile Beach in Gerroa are where Kiama's surf schools teach beginners. It's about 13 minutes' drive (11 km) south of the apartments.

Gerroa Surf School runs two-hour group lessons, usually 8.30am to 10.30am and 1.30pm to 3.30pm depending on conditions. It also runs private two-hour lessons for one to six people, priced from $150 for one person to $400 for six, and advertises group discounts and free photos for groups. Lessons are for ages six and up, and children under 13 in group lessons need a participating adult. Soft boards, full wetsuits, sunscreen and hot showers at the surf camp are included.

Gerringong Surf School runs open group lessons, ladies-only groups and team-building surf lessons for workplaces. It doesn't publish group sizes or prices, so text or call to ask. Read our Kiama surf guide for patrol times and other breaks.

Buy group tickets for Jamberoo Action Park

For a group with teenagers, or adults who still like a waterslide, Jamberoo Action Park is about 19 minutes' drive from the apartments at 1215 Jamberoo Road. It's a seasonal park: the 2026 to 2027 season runs from 26 September 2026 to 26 April 2027, open 10am to 5pm on open days, and the park says it opens Friday to Sunday through October.

The park's group rate starts at 20 tickets. A pre-paid any-day group ticket is $69 per person at one price for all ages, and each ticket covers one entry on any open day that season, so the group doesn't need to commit to a date. Groups of 200 or more should call or email. Ordinary online tickets are $74 for kids and $84 for adults.

A hut gives a big group a base for the day. The park says most of its huts and shelters seat 50 or stand 80, and they need to be booked and paid for in advance. Catering, such as a sausage sizzle or platters, must be pre-ordered 14 days ahead. A $15 fee applies to bookings made by phone or enquiry form rather than the online booking links. Our Jamberoo Action Park guide covers rides and height rules.

Barefoot bowls works for nearly any group, because nobody needs experience and the bar is a few steps away. Two clubs near Kiama advertise it for groups.

Kiama Bowling and Recreation Club, about a 24-minute walk (2.0 km) from the apartments, runs barefoot bowls seven days a week and takes group bookings by phone. It says it can fit up to 150 bowlers across two and a half grass greens, offers catering packages you can eat rink side, and has outdoor seating for up to 60. Its courtesy bus runs Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm, so ask whether it covers your pick-up.

Gerringong Bowlo at Werri Beach, about 8 minutes' drive south, charges $15 per person, including bowls, green hire and optional coaching from staff. Book online or by phone.

For a group of golfers, Kiama Golf Club at 79 to 81 Oxley Avenue, Kiama Downs, is about 9 minutes' drive (8 km) from the apartments. The 18-hole, par 66 course runs beside the Minnamurra River, and the club has a corporate and group golf page for social days, work days and charity days. It says it can take care of the organising.

The club doesn't publish group packages or group prices, so email or phone with your numbers and date. As a guide, its visitor rate for 18 holes is $45 on weekdays and $50 on weekends and public holidays. Tee times must be booked ahead, and carts and hire clubs come from the pro shop. The clubhouse bistro serves lunch from 11.30am to 3pm and dinner from 5.30pm to 8pm, which suits a meal after the round.

Gerringong and Jamberoo also have 18-hole courses. Compare all three in our Kiama golf guide.

Charter a fishing boat out of Kiama Harbour

A fishing charter suits a smaller crew within the group. Kiama Charter Service runs reef trips within about 15 km of the harbour for a minimum of four and a maximum of 10 people, targeting snapper, morwong, leatherjackets and flathead. Deep sea trips to the continental shelf, mainly from May to September, are whole-boat bookings only.

Boats leave Kiama Harbour at 6am and return about 2pm, seven days a week except Christmas Day and New Year's Day, weather permitting. Tackle, bait, tuition and morning tea are included, the deckhand helps clean your catch, and passengers don't need their own fishing licence. Full payment is due up front. The harbour is about 6 minutes' drive from the apartments.

If you'd rather fish from shore, anglers 18 and over need a NSW recreational fishing licence, from $7 for three days. See our Kiama fishing guide for spots and boat ramps.

One night out with everyone at the same table is often the highlight of a group trip. Kiama's clubs and pubs are set up for this, and these venues publish function or group dining details on their own sites.

Kiama Leagues Club on Terralong Street has three function rooms (the Auditorium, the Conference Room and the Boardroom) and a celebration package. Kiama Bowling and Recreation Club says its function space seats up to 140 for birthdays and reunions. Gerringong Bowlo hires indoor and outdoor spaces, including a rooftop, with platters, canapes or set menus from its bistro. In the hinterland, the Jamberoo Pub's bistro caters for special occasions, family gatherings and parties.

None of these venues publish set group prices online, so contact them with your numbers and date. For more options, see where to eat in Kiama and Kiama pubs.

Shop the farmers' market, then BBQ back at the apartments

Some of the easiest group nights cost the least. The Kiama Farmers' Market runs every Wednesday afternoon at Coronation Park, next to Surf Beach: 3pm to 6pm in daylight saving time and 2pm to 5pm otherwise. On the third Sunday of each month, the Kiama Seaside Markets fill Black Beach from 9am to 3pm. Both are a few minutes' drive from the apartments, and our Kiama markets guide has the other markets nearby.

Bring the produce back and cook. Every apartment has a full kitchen with an oven and gas cooktop, a dining table for six, and a covered balcony with outdoor dining and a BBQ. With a full kitchen in every apartment on the same site, a group can split the cooking, then gather in one apartment to eat. See the apartments for the layout.

Spend a day in Berry with the whole group

Berry is about 15 minutes' drive (20.5 km) south along the Princes Highway, and it gives a group something for everyone: bakeries, pubs and shops along Queen Street for the browsers, and cellar doors on the way for the wine drinkers. Time the trip for the Berry Markets, held on the first Sunday of every month except February at the showground, or the Thursday afternoon farmers' market.

Silos Estate at Jaspers Brush, about 20 minutes from the apartments, has a cellar door open seven days from 11am to 5pm, plus a restaurant. Book tastings online and check group availability before you go. Our Berry day trip guide has a full day plan, and day trips from Kiama covers more towns.

Stay together in apartments on the same site

Aerial view of the Kiama Ridge Waters buildings from the street, with the ocean on the horizon

The hardest part of a group trip is often finding somewhere everyone can stay together. At Kiama Ridge Waters, your group can take two apartments for 12 people or book more for a bigger crowd, all on the same site at 2 Surfleet Place. Each three-bedroom apartment sleeps six, with two bathrooms, a full kitchen, a laundry and secure garage parking for two cars.

Because each family or couple has its own apartment, everyone gets a door to close and their own kitchen, while the rest of the group is a few steps away. Easts Beach is a 15-minute walk (1.3 km), the town centre and station are about 27 minutes on foot, and Sydney is about 1 hour 45 minutes by car. Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is at 10am. Pets are welcome on request in most of our apartments.

Send a group enquiry through our group accommodation page, compare the apartments, or check dates and book. If you are in town for a wedding, see our wedding accommodation page.
